Why Regain? Return that which makes you better. Salvage.
“Trust and integrity are precious resources, easily squandered, hard to regain. They can thrive only on a foundation of respect for veracity.”
—Sissela Bok
Is there something which you have lost and miss terribly? Are there areas in your life which have slowed down, slipped away, or become confused? Is there something within your character that is valuable, but needs to regain its proper place? Would the quality of your life improve if you regained this certain something?
Whenever I recognize that something important has slipped away, or I feel it slowly diminishing within me, I take deliberate action to secure its place and position. However, sometimes it is easier said than done.
Moving from Florida to Wisconsin was a drastic change which disrupted my ‘norm’ in more ways than one. Although it has been a grand adventure for a new experience, my habits, routines, and expectations were knocked off kilter and out of balance. Simple comforts and confidences I once took for granted were tested during the transition. As I have adapted to this new life, I have finally regained my sense of rhythm, purpose, and well-being.
Ask yourself: Would I be more effective, efficient, productive, or happy if I were to regain an attribute or behavior that has gone by the wayside? Is there something which once was and I yearn for its return?
