In REDO for Positive Change & Transformation

Why Recapture? When you are stuck in a rut and no longer experiencing happiness and fun, you can return to your natural joy and playfulness.

Years ago, when going through a very difficult time in my marriage, I went to a family counselor for guidance. With tearful sadness, I told him I was a naturally joyful person, but I had lost it. I asked, “How can I recapture my joy?” He wisely shared, “Susan, your joy has never left you. It’s been buried beneath sensory blockages. Remove the sensory blockages, and you may find it again.”

His truth gave me hope that my joy could return. And it did. For you, what has gotten buried beneath life’s rubble that you want to recapture?  It will take a little rearranging and a little time, but as you change how you “do life,” (by simply putting each word below into daily thoughts and actions) you will recapture the joy-filled things you long for. You can choose to say YES to the prizes of life, especially valued intangibles such as these.

Be reminded—you are engineered for health, vitality, and resilience, yet years wrought with challenge and difficult circumstances can rob you of life’s greatest free gifts.

8 Essential Prizes to Recapture

  1. Fun
  2. Hope
  3. Health
  4. Yourself
  5. Laughter
  6. Creativity
  7. Spontaneity
  8. Dreams

Make it a habit to choose one of these “prizes” each day. Do what is possible to integrate “it” into your daily activities. Add to this list any other boon of the good life you wish to recapture.

Rethink: What has shut you down? What do you want now? What were your dreams? Restore them to your life and recapture the treasured things which bring you joy. As you respond, you will confirm a reawakening to those treasures you have taken back—recaptured forevermore!

“Any intelligent fool can invent further complications, but it takes a genius to retain, or recapture, simplicity.”      —E.F. Schumacher
